Assessments in September

If your child comes home talking about a test, don't be alarmed.  The "tests" are really assessments that the teachers use to monitor student academic growth.  These assessments are also used to help teachers provide individualized and group instruction.
Students will take the iReady Diagnostic Assessments in math and reading for grades Kindergarten through 5th.  As a result, the iReady program creates individualized lessons for students to complete to help them make academic growth.  Students in grades Kindergarten - 3rd grade will also take MClass Reading Assessments, which will help teachers pick the correct book levels and plan instruction for the children.    Finally, our 3rd grade students take the Beginning of Grade Test, which is referred to as the "BOG."  The 3rd graders take this assessment to establish a base line for State Tests that occur at the end of the year, and it is only a pretest.  These Assessments are part of the regular routines of establishing achievement levels and nothing you or your child should feel stressed about.
